To solve this,
log3 |2x-11| = 5
we have to first look at what |2x-11| must equal...
Well, the log of 3^5 to the base three equals 5, so we have
|2x - 11| = 3^5 = 243
Now there are two equations we write from here
2x - 11 = 243 and 2x - 11 = -243
Solving both gives us
2x = 254 and 2x = -232
x = 127 and x = -116
