Question 95435: = +
What is B?
I tried the following approach:
7=A*(x+9)+B*
7=x*(A+Bx)+9A+5B
7=9A+5B & x(A+Bx)=0
I could only say B=(7-9A)/5 & either x=0 or x=-A/B
I'm not sure how to move from here to the next in order to find the solution.
Could you help? The question was given by teacher on the board, not from a textbook.

Question 95517: Hello!
I have tried to work this problem out but my answer doesn't appear to work when I plug it back in. I must be doing something wrong.
Solve the following equations algebraically:
(x+7)*(x-1)=(x+1)^2
Here is my work:
I foiled both of the sides to come up with:
x^2+7x-1x-7=x^2+2x+1
I brought over the right side to give me:
4x=-6
x=-3/2
I could be doing this totally wrong.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Question 96158: hi! i don't know if this would be considered in this category because it involves factoring.i thought this was the closest to it.
a^2(x+y)+b^2(x+y)
i don't know where to start because after you use foil there is no GCF. What do i do after that?

Question 98979: My problem is written as; I had to name the property in each step. The first step they switched the x, so I think it's symmetric. step 2, the x came to be on the outsid and I'm thinking that's reflexive. I need help on these steps bcause they are confusing.
x(y+1)+(-1)x = x(y+1)+x(-1)
= x [(y+1)]+(-1)]
= x[y+(1+ (-1))]
= x [y+0]
= xy
