Question 155189: HI!
I just started Algebra 2 this year, and we are reviewing from algebra right now, and I can not remember how to solve a problem where I am isolating a variable. The problem is:
x= 2y^2/5 +1
I am trying to get y alone.
the 2y^2 is all over 5, so its like a fraction. So far, I have put the 1 over with the x, so now it looks like
-1+x = 2y^2/5
Then I multipled the right side by 5, making that drop off, so now it looks like:
-1x= 2y^2. Now, I am stuck...How do I solve from here?

Question 155447: I am not sure if this belongs here or not.
My question:
How do you solve or what meathod do you use to slove:
(x+h)^2
I thought the answer would be:
x^2+h^2
However, the answer is:
x^2+2xh+H^2
Why is the 2xh in the answer?
And how do you come to get that answer?

Question 156679: I have to do a project about the associative property. I need example problems but I don't quite understand it well enough. I already have some simple problems but my teacher wants challenge problems too. Can you give me an example of a challenge problem for the associative property of addition and another for the associative property of multiplication so I can see how to make one. Thank you very much.

Question 159651: Please help me solve this problem step by step. I have spent more than 3 hours between 2 days on it. I have come up with several different answers and when I do the check they never work out. (x= 2.14, x=4, x= 1.25)
5[2-(2x-4)] = 2(5-3x)
5[2(-2x+4)] = 2(5-3x)
5(-4x+8) = 10-6x
-20x+40 = 10-6x
-20x+6x+40 = 10-6x+6x
-20x+6x+40 = 10
-14x+40 = 10
-14x+40-40 = 10-40
-14x = -30
x=2.14
I have done it several different ways. If you could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
