Question 76771: HEIGHT OF A DIVER: a diver jumps from a diving board that is 32 feet above the water. the height of the diver is given by
height = -16( t - 2 )( t + 1 )
where the height is measured in feet, and the time t, is measured in second. when will the diver hit the water? can you see a quick way to find the answer? explain.
PLEASE HELP ME!!! PLEASE!!!

Answer by Earlsdon(6294)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Think about the height of the diver when he/she hits the water! The diver's height will be zero feet. So, you can set height in the equation to zero and solve for t.
Apply the zero products principle.

So, when height is zero, t = 2 or t = -1
The only answer that is meaningful here is t = 2 seconds.
