The distributive property says multiply each term inside the bracket by the term outside the brackets, then remove the brackets
2h + 4h + 8 = 26
Combine like terms
6h + 8 = 26
Subtract 8 from both sides
6h = 26 - 8
6h = 18
divide both sides by 6
h = 18/6
h = 3

Prove to yourself that this is true in the original problem
2h + 2(2h+4) = 26
replace h with 3
2(3) + 2(2(3) + 4) = 26
6 + 2(6+4) = 26
6 + 2(10) = 26

a(b + c) = ab + ac
you multiply each term in the parenthisis with the term outside it.
example
2h+2(2h+4)=26
2h+(2*2h)+(2*4)=26
2h+4h+8=26
6h+8 =26
-8
6h=18
/6
h=3
4 x 53
(4 x 50) + (4 x 3)
200 + 12
212
4 x 27
=4(20 +7)
=4(20) + (7)
=80 + 28
=108
The Distributive Property
a(b + c) = ab + ac
3x(x+6)
= 3x(x) + 3x(6)
=3x2+18x
(x + y)(x + 2y)
