Question 672063: #4. 9(x-2)= -81
#5. 2(x+6)= 3(x-1)-15
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
#4
9(x-2) = -81
Distribute the 9
9(x) - 9(2) = -81
9x - 18 = -81
Isolate x by adding 18 to both sides
9x = -81 + 18
Divide both sides by 9
9x = -63
...
#5
2(x+6) = 3(x-1)-15
Distribute the 2 and 3
2x + 6 = 3x - 3 - 15
Group x onto one side of the equation
2x - 3x = -3 - 15 - 6
-x = -24
Divide both sides by -1
