Question 657395: how do you express (4a-3) squared as a trinomial? my teacher says to FOIL but i dont know how. iv gotten 16a squared -9 but i dont think it is right.
Hi,
(4a-3)^2
(4a-3)(4a-3) = 16a^2 - 24a + 9
When using FOIL, the 'middle'term is the sum of the outside and inside products
F First terms 16a^2
O Outside terms -12a
I Inside terms -12a
L Last terms (-3)(-3) = 9
