Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(8x (x to the 2 power) + 8x-2)-(8x (x to 2nd power) +5) = 6x+2.
(8x^2+8x-2) - (8x^2+5 )= 6x+2
8x^2-8x^2+8x-2-5=6x+2
8x-7=6x+2
2x=9
x=9/2

Answer by funmath(2933)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Clear the parentheses on the left.
Combine like terms on the left.

Subtract 6x from both sides to get all your x's on the left.

Add 7 to both sides.

Divide both sides by 2

Happy Calculating!!!

Answer by tutorcecilia(2152)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
[remove the parenthesis and change the signes wherever necessary]
[combine like-terms]
8x-2-5 = 6x+2
8x-7 = 6x+2[isolate the x]
8x-7+7 = 6x+2+7 [isolate the x]
8x = 6x+9
8x-6x = 6x-6x+9
2x = 9
2x/2=9/2
x=9/2
