You can think of (7x + 4x) + (11 + 10) as 1(7x + 4x) + 1(11 + 10) which becomes 1*7x+1*4x + 1*11 +1*10 and that simplifies to 7x+4x+11+10
So you are correct, this is the distributive property in action.
