The negative in front of the parenthesis can be though of as a -1 times the parenthesis:
-1(-50) The rule for multiplying integers is. if the signs are the same, multiply as usual and the answer is positive:
-1(-50)=50
:
Another way of thinking about it is:
-(-50) means the opposite of negative 50===> 50
:
Or you can think of it as a double negative -(-50) makes a positive (in multiplication and division).===> 50
