To solve this we need to get y by itself.

In this case, we need to then get rid of the -8.

To do so, we divide both sides of the equation by -8:

-88%2F-8=-8y%2F-8 then simplify:

11=y

Our answer should be y=11

Check this by substituting 11 in for y in our original equation:

-88=-8%2A11

-88=-88 which is true, therefore our answer of y=11 is correct!
