Question 470180: Simplify, using the order of operations. Simplify the answer to lowest terms. (5/6 times 12/25)squared divided by 2/3
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you work from left to right.
you resolve expressions within the most inner set of parentheses first.
then the next inner, etc, until all parentheses have been resolved.
you continue to work from left to right within each set of parentheses until all parentheses have been resolved.
exponents and roots are done first.
then multiplies and divides.
then adds and subtracts.
your expression is (5/6 * 12/15)^2 / (2/3)
you multiply 5/6 * 12/25 first to get:
(60/150)^2 / (2/3)
you then square (60/90) to get:
(3600/22500) / (2/3)
you then divide (3600/22500) by (2/3) to get:
(3600/22500) / (2/3) is equivalent to:
(3600/22500) * (3/2) which resolves to:
(3600*3) / (22500*2) which resolves to:
1800 / 7500 which resolves to:
18 / 75 which resolves to:
6 / 25
that's your answer.
you can confirm by using your calculator to solve the original expression.
you'll get a decimal answer which will be equal to 6 after you multiply it by 25.
I got:
(5/6 * 12/15)^2 / (2/3) becomes:
(.4)^2 / (2/3) becomes:
.16 / (2/3) becomes:
.24 which becomes:
6 after multiplying it by 25.
This means that .24 is equivalent to 6/25 which is the answer we derived above.
