To factor you must first see if there is a GCF in all the terms
96ab+12a^2b-84ab^3
12 will go into all terms equally
now we check what variables we can take out, to do this find the least number of exponents on each variable.
a&b can come out of each
12ab is what we are taking out of each equation.
put 12ab in front, and what is left over next:
12ab(8+a-7b^2)
you can not simplify anymore therefore you have factored completely, this is your answer.
