Question 360047: writing to explain,if you know that 7 x 8 = 56 how can you
use the communicative property multiplication to find the product of 8 x 7? this is my sons 4th grade math problem. Can someone help me please????
Answer by vleith(2983) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The communtitivue property for multiplication states that the order of the miltiplicands and can be swapped and the resulting product stays the same.
So
A * B = B * A
In your case, that says 7 * 8 = 8 * 7
So if
then the commutitivte property says
as well since you can swap the order of the terms on the left and not change the result.
This property is true for addition and multiplication. It does not hold for subtraction or division.
Hope that helps
