No that's the associative principle of addition,
for the parentheses are used to associate
the 12 with the 13 on the left and to associate
the -14 with the 12 on the right.  You can prove this
is true because on the left you have -14 plus 25
which is 11 and on the right you have -2 plus 13
which is also 11.


The distributive principle is when you have multiplication
on the outside of parentheses and addition on the
inside of the parentheses, like this:

2(3 + 4) = 2*3 + 2*4

You can prove that is true because on the left you have 2*7
which is 14 and on the right you have 6+8 which is also 14.
