Question 206182: what property would the equation 5(x+3)=5(3+x) fall under. I can't figure it out because I don't know what property changes the order of what is inside the parentheses. I know association changes the grouping.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Whenever we say that a+b is the same as b+a, we're talking about the commutative property of addition. In other words, we're basically saying that we can add the two numbers 'a' and 'b' in any order we like.
Ex: 2+3=5 and 3+2=5 (either way, we get the same answer)
