FOIL is a simplified form of distribution, used only on 2 term x 2 term problems
,
F stands for First, multiply first terms
,
O stands for outside. multiply outside terms
,
I stands for inside, multiply inside terms
,
L stands for Last, multiply last terms
,
an example might help
,
(x+1) (x+2) = F= x*x = x^2
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,O= x*2=2x
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I = x*1 = x
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,L = 1*2 =2
putting it together,,,,,,,,,,,,x^2 +2x +x +2 = x^2 +3x +2
,
This takes some practice, but it is worth practice, we use this all the time
,
Keep up the good work
