how do i solve
-4y-6(-5y-7)=8-7(6-y)
Expand everything to get rid of the parenthese.
-4y +30y +42 = 8 -42+7y
Collect like terms
26y + 42 = 7y - 34
Add 34
26y + 76 = 7y
Subtract 26y
76 = -19y
y = -4
You just do it one step at a time. The object is to get y by itself on one side of the equal sign.
