Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4(6 + 8) + 2 (9 - 7)
---------------------
= 4*6 + 4*8 + 2*9 - 2*7
= 24 + 32 + 18 - 14
= 60

when a multi-term quantity in parentheses is multiplied by by another quantity
__ the multiplication is "distributed" over ALL the terms
ex. a(x+y-z)= ax+ay-az
ex. (a+b)(x+y-z)=ax+ay-az+bx+by-bz
4(6 + 8) + 2 (9 - 7)=4*6 + 4*8 + 2*9 -2*7=24+32+18-14=60
