since 12 > 0, we know that both factors are positive
:
factors of 12 are (12, 1) (6, 2) (4, 3)
:
since -14 < 0, we know that one of the factors is positive and other is negative
:
factors of 14 are (14, 1), (2, 7)

We try the factors of 12 one at a time with the three factors of 14

Using this method, we find that
