In this problem you aren't really doing any distribution, lets first go ahead and work out the exponents;
8+729-729=8
When it comes to collecting like terms, what is meant, you can only add or subtract terms that are alike, ex.:
2x + 3x = 5x
2x + = you can not add because they are not like terms.
distribution:
4(2x + 3), distribute the four, meaning multiply the 4 to each term:
(4*2x)+(4*3)
8x+12
