Question 32441: I am trying to figure out graphing. I don't understand why my graphing is different than the equasion. I am working on finding the equation of a line. The question is y=mx+b and the numbers are 3x+y=3 so I minus 3x from both sides to get y alone and then my equasion is y= -3X + 3 but on the graph I am suppossed to find the slope and the y intercept for the equasion and graph it but one of the numbers that is being graphed is 3 on the y line and then it is also a 1. I don't understand how the answer book got 1.

Question 30540: when a question asks you to show something algebraically, DO NOT substitute numbers for the variables and give me an example. On the other hand, when a question asks you to show something numerically or to provide an example, you may substitute numbers for the variables. Show all work
Before GPS and on-board targeting computers, engineers had to figure out how to calibrate optical bomb sites so as to accurately drop bombs on targets. From physics, we know that the altitude of a bomb t seconds after release from a plane flying at an altitude of s0 feet is given by the function s(t) = s0 - 16t2 (disregarding air resistance). We also know that, since d = rt, a bomb released from a plane traveling at r mph itself has a velocity of r mph and will travel rt miles in t seconds (again disregarding air resistance).
a. If a bomb is released at 20,000 feet, how long will it take to strike the ground? (Hint: solve s(t) = 0 for t using s0 = 20,000.)
If R in the diagram is the release point of a bomb relative to the ground, how far should R be from the target to insure a hit, assuming the plane has a velocity of 300 mph?

Question 35177: I can not figure out this problem, please help: In most businesses, increasing prices of their product can have a negative effect on the number of customers of the business. A bus company in a small town has an average number of riders of 800 per day. The bus company charges $2.25 for a ride. They conducted a survey of their customers and found that they will lose approximately 40 customers per day for each $.25 increase in fare.

Question 36450: The inventor of a new product believes that the cost of producing the product is given by the function C(x) = 1.75x + 7000. If the inventor charges $4 per unit, then her profit for producing and selling x units is given by the function P(x) = 2.25x – 7000
(a) What is her profit if she sells 2000 units?
(b) What is her profit if she sells 5000 units?
(c) What is the break-even point for sales stated in the number of units?

Question 36448: Graph the function.
f (x) = -2x – 5 ( , ) ( , )
State in words exactly where the points should be located. For example, if a set of coordinates is ( 2,3) you would say : From the origin count 2 spaces to the right on the x axis, then up 3 spaces and plot the point (2,3). *Always start each point from the origin – and you have to plot 2 points in order to draw the line.

Question 36718: ok. i dont know if this is what im working with but it's close enough. (on the page it says families of linear graphs)it says graph each pair of equations. Describe any similarities or differences and explain why they are a family of graphs. theres problems like y=-4x + 1, and i know how to do them, but the
y=-4x-2
problems like y=x+4 or, y=3x or y=1/2x=1/2 and other stuff like that i dont
y=5x+4 y=4x y=2x=2
understand. please show that work too that way ill know how to do it and such.(and the graph so ill know how to do that too) and if you could id appreciate it if you explained it too. (those problems i gave u are actual problems i need help with too.) thanks so much. please try to let me know as soon as possible. thanks.
