A coordinate grid is placed over a map of Pineville. The police department is located at (-12,7) and the fire department is located at (-6,6). What are the coordinates of the town hall, which is located halfway between the police and fire deparments?
-----------------------
the x coordinate of the midpoint is the average of the two x coordinates:
(-12-6)/2 = -9
The y coordinate of the midpoint is the average of the two y coordinates:
(7+6)/2 = 6.5 or (13/2)
------------------------
Midpoint: (-9,(13/2))
