Find the slope (or PITCH) of the roof.
Rise: 2 ft 5 in.
Run: 8 ft 2 in
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 ft 5 in = 2 ft + 5 in = 2 ft + 5/12 ft = 2 + 5/12
2 + 5/12 = 24/12 + 5/12 = (24 + 5)/12 = 29/12
2 ft 5 in = 29/12 ft
-------------------------------------------------------
8 ft 2 in = 8 ft + 2 in = 8 ft + 2/12 ft
8 + 2/12 = 96/12 + 2/12 = (96 + 2)/12 = 98/12
8 ft 2 in = 98/12 ft
-------------------------------------------------------
Rise: 29/12 ft
Run: 98/12 ft
-------------------------------------------------------
Divide the rise by the run to get the slope or pitch
Slope = Rise/Run
Slope = (29/12)/(98/12)
Slope = (29/12)*(12/98)
Slope = (29/1)*(1/98)
Slope = 29/98
The slope as a fraction is 29/98
29/98 = 0.295918
The slope as a decimal number is approximately 0.295918
