5x-24-8x < 2-2x [combine like-terms if possible]
-3x-24 < 2-2x [isolate the x term (get it to the left side of the inequality]
-3x-24+24 < 2+24-2x
-3x < 26-2x
-3x+2x < 26 - 2x+2x
-x < 26
-x/-1 > 26/-1 [flip the sign when multiplying or dividing by a negative number]
x > -26
