Question 809097: Can you please help me with this question: If B Is not equal to 0, classify the graph of x^2 +Bxy+F=0 for all values of F. Prove all your statement. Thank you
Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
standard form of a conic is
Ax^2 +Bxy +Cy^2 +Dx +Ey +F = 0
now our equation is
x^2 +Bxy +F = 0
to characterize the graph we must look at the discriminant, that is
B^2 -4AC
we know that C=0 and B is not equal to 0, therefore we have
B^2 which is > 0 which makes this a hyperbola for all values of F
