Question 681575: m(3,-3) is the midpoint of RS. If S has coordinates (8,2) fine the coordinates of R

Let the coordinates of R be (x1,y1).
Then, ([8 + x1]/2,[2 + y1]) = (3,-3)
Taking it one at a time,
(8 + x1)/2 = 3
Cross multiplying,
8 + x1= 3 * 2
x1 = 6 - 8
x1 = -2.
Also,
(2 + y1)/2 = -3
2 + y1 = 2 * -3
y1 = -6 - 2
y1 = -8.
Coordinates of R are (-2,-8).
