How would i write the equation of the line that is perpendicular to the graph of y=1/2x+6,and whose y-intercept is (0, -2).
.
"slope-intercept" form is
y = mx+b
where
m is the slope
b is the y-intercept
.
slope of:
y=1/2x+6
is 1/2 (which is 'm' of our new line)
.
if y-intercept is (0, -2) then 'b' of our new line is -2
.
so,
y = mx+b
y = (1/2)x+(-2)
y = (1/2)x-2 (answer)
