Question 49841: I was using your site to teach my son algebra, and we noticed an incorrect answer that we wanted to notify you about.
"Checkley71" answered question #1743 by starting this way:
Problem to graph: 2x+4y=-8
Error made in solving equation was when he subtracted 2x from both sides, he got: 4y=-2x+8
"Checkley71" accidentally changed the (-8) to a (+8) when he subtracted 2x from both sides. The rest of the problem was wrong from that point forward. Please send me an e-mail when the problem is corrected so I can again review it with my son.
Thanks for a great site!

2x+4y=8
subtract 2x from both the sides
4y=8-2x
divide both the sides by 4
y=(8-2x)/4
put x=0 we get y=2
put x=2 we get y=1
put x=4 we get y=0
so we get the points (0,2),(2,1),(4,0)
plot these points on the graph
