Question 494165: Hi, this is on behalf of my son, we are having great irritations in figuring out how to solve this problem: here it is:
the area of a rectangular pool with a perimeter of 800 feet is given by the formula f(x)=400x-x(second power) where x represents the length of the pool in feet and f(x) represents the area of the pool in square feet the first number given for the value of x is 50.
what I need is help in solving this so that he can solve the remaining so that he can create a scatterplot graph. Thank you, Ricsi

It's a little easier to keep f(x) = x * (400-x) [just 1 multiply].
The plot is x axis and f(x) axis, just plug in the x values.
f(50) = 50 * 350 = 10500, so (50, 10500) is one point.
f(100) = 100 * 300 = 30000, so (100, 30000) is another point.
etc.
As a double check, x = 200 should be the largest f(x), 40000.
