Question 469031: I need to find the equations of the lines joining the pairs of points:
1. (3,4) (-1,0)
2. (0,6) (4,-2)
I am so stuck with this one!!

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x1 y1 x2 y2
3 4 -1 0

slope m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
( 0 - 4 )/( -1 - 3 )
( -4 / -4 )
m= 1.00

Plug value of the slope and point (3,4) in
Y = m x + b
4.00 = 3 + b
b= 4 3
b= 1
So the equation will be
Y =x+1
x1 y1 x2 y2
0 6 4 -2

slope m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
( -2 - 6 )/(4-0)
( -8 / 4 )
m= -2.00

Plug value of the slope and point (0,6) in
Y = m x + b
6.00 = 0 + b
b= 6 0
b= 6
So the equation will be
Y = -2 x + 6
