I am currently taking an Algebra 2 course and have a help CD; however, even after watching the CD for a certain problem, I still could not figure it out. It concerns graphing two-variable equations. I don't know how or why they gave the answer they did. If you can help, I would really appreciate it. Here are the following two problems they gave me:
Graph each two variable equation below.
14. y = 2x � 5
15. y = -4x + 1

14. y = 2x � 5
You need 2 points to determine a line.
Let x = 0, then y = -5
Let x = 2, then y = -1

Plot (0,-5) and (2,-1) and draw a line thru them to get:

Let x = 0, then y = 1
