Question 370667: Here is my final question for now.
A line k passes through the points (4,2) and (-4,4. A second line h poasses through the points (-8,1) and (8, -3), is line k parallel to line h? Why or why not? (Note--parenthesis in this case do no mean multiply).

Hi,
*Note: Inorder to be parallel lines, slopes must be equal
Checking out the slopes of the lines passing thru points given for each

(4,2) and (-4,4)
m = 4-2/-4-4 = 2/-8 = -1/4

(-8,1) and (8, -3)
m = -3-1/8-(-8)=-4/16 = -1/4
Slopes are equal, lines are parallel

(4,2) and (-4,4. A second line h poasses through the points (-8,1) and (8, -3), is line k parallel to line h?
..
slope of line k = (4-2)/(-4-4)
=2/-8
=-1/4
..
slope of line h =(-3-1)/(8+8)
=-4/16
=-1/4
..
slopes are same so they are parallel
