The easiest way to graph an equation or inequality that is given in standard form as this one is, is by the TWO INTERCEPT METHOD! This means to find the x and y intercepts.

The equation of the line is 3x-4y = 12. Find the intercepts:
If x = 0, then 3(0) - 4y = 12, so -4y = 12, and y = -3.
If y = 0, then 3x - 4(0) = 12, so 3x = 12, and x = 4.

Graph these two points on the graph: (0, -3) and (4, 0).

Now the inequality is written in the form 3x - 4y < 12, which means that the line is NOT included. Draw it with a DOTTED (or a DASHED) LINE. Also, you must shade either above or below the line. If the problem had had a positive y coefficient, then a "+y < " means shade BELOW the line, and "+y > " means to shade ABOVE the line. Since this problem has a NEGATIVE y coefficient, you must reverse the rule, and so a "-y <" really means to SHADE ABOVE the line. I don't know how to do this in algebra.com, so you will have to do it for me. I'll draw the line for you, but YOU will have to take what I post, and make the line a DOTTED line, AND you must shade all the area that is ABOVE the line.
