The y-intercept is where x=0.

In this case 9x%5E2-4y%5E2=+36, if x=0, then you have
-4y%5E2+=+36
y%5E2+=+-9

There are NO REAL SOLUTIONS for which y^2 can possibly equal a negative number. therefore, there are NO y-intercepts.
