Question 21608: Consider the function y=[x] How would you go about plotting it? What would the graph look like?
Answer by venugopalramana(3286) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Y=[X] IS CALLED THE GREATEST INTEGER EQUATION .....THAT IS IF X IS AN INTEGER,THEN Y = X...EX...IF X=2 ,THEN Y=2...IF X = -3 ...THEN Y=-3..ETC...
IF X IS NOT AN INTEGER , THEN Y IS THE GREATEST INTEGRAL PART OF IT....SUPPOSE EX...IF X=1.5..THEN Y=1...IF X=2.9...THEN Y =2......ETC..SO THE GRAPH WILL BE A STEP GRAPH LIKE FOR X=0 TO 1 Y VALUE WILL BE 0.SUDDENLY NOW Y WILL JUMP TO 1 AT X=1 AND REMAIN SAME TILL X=2,WHEN IT WILL JUMP TO 2 ETC....
