Question 179500: Find the value of x or y so that the line passing through the two points has the given slope. (-1,5), (-6,y); m= 8/5
Answer by checkley75(3666)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(-1,5), (-6,y); m= 8/5
Y=mX+b
5=-1(8/5)+b
5=-8/5+b
b=5+8/5
b=(5*5+8)/5
b=(25+8)/5
b=33/5 Thus the line equation with a slope=8/5 passing through (-1,5) &(-6,y)is
y=8x/5+33/5
y=8*-6/5+33/5
y=-48/5+33/5
y=-15/5
y=-3 or the point is (-6,-3)
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, 8x/5 +33/5x).
