Question 136348: Find an equation in slope-intercept form passing through the points (-6.2,18.1) and (-3.4,18.1).
I am not too sure of how to set up the equation. Here is what I think it should be.
m = y2 - y1/x2 - x1
m = 18.1 – 18.1/3.4 – (-6.2)
Thanks

Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Ok, you got a good start on finding the slope of the line:
Substitute the x- and y-coordinates from the given points, (-6.2, 18.1) and (-3.4, 18.1).
so now you have:
Substitute m = 0
To find the value of b, the y-intercept, substitute the y-coordinate from either of the given points.
, so your equation is:
...and there you have it!
This is the equation of a horizontal line that intercepts the y-axis at (0, 18.1)
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
m = y2 - y1/x2 - x1
m = 18.1 – 18.1/3.4 – (-6.2)
m=0/9.6 thuis is an herizontal line through (0,18.1).
y=18.1 is the equation.
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 20, y = 18.1).
