x-y=4 Start with the given equation

x=4%2By Add y to both sides

x-4=y Subtract 4 from both sides


y=x-4 Rearrange the equation



So now the equation is in slope-intercept form y=mx%2Bb where the slope is m=1 and the y-intercept is b=-4. Note: the equation really looks like y=1x-4
