y=ax^2+bx+c
y=x^2+5x-7

-b/2a is the formula for axis of symmetry and the maximum or minimum at x of a parabola.
-5/2=-2.5=axis of symmetry.

Symmetry means that it looks the same on both sides of the axis.
Do you know the quadratic formula? That's how I figure out the
axis of symmetry. The formula is:

rewite it as

The first term is the axis of symmetry, and the 2nd term gives you a
value of x on the = side and one on the - side

x = -5/2 is the axis of symmetry
