Answer by Annabelle1(69) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
make x the subject of the formula for the second equation so it becomes
x=11+y. Substitute this into the first equation.
it then becomes
3(11+y)-5y=41
33+3y-5y=41
33-2y=41
-2y=41-33
-2y=8
y=8/(-2)
y=-4
sub this value into x=11+y to get you x value
x=11+-4
x=7
