Question 184165: write the converse, inverse and, contrapositive of the folowing. If we have a rock concert, someone will faint.
I have no Ideas about this can you help please
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let P=we have a rock concert and Q=Someone will faint
Original Statement: "If we have a rock concert, someone will faint." translates to if P then Q
Converse: Simply switch P and Q to get: if Q then P
So the converse is: "If someone will faint, then we have a rock concert"
------------------
Inverse: Take the original statement "if P then Q" and change it to "if NOT P then NOT Q" (ie negate everything)
So the inverse is: "If we don't have a rock concert, then someone will not faint"
--------------------
Finally, contrapositive: Take the converse "if Q then P" and negate everything to get "if NOT Q then NOT P"
So the contrapositive is: "If someone will not faint, then we don't have a rock concert"
