Question 960514: A chord is 24 inches in length and 5 inches above the center point. How long is the radius?
Answer by simranb(63)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Total chord length: 24 inches
Half of the chord: 12 inches
Distance of the chord from centre: 5inches
See in the figure
ABC forms a right angled triangle
So using Pythagoras theorem
5^2+12^2= radius^2
Radius= √169
Radius= 13
