Question 798474: Show that the circles x^2 + y^2 - 16x + 115 = 0 and x^2 + y^2 + 8x - 10 y + 5 = 0 are tangent and find the point of tangency.
Can you please help me out thanks so much in advance:)

Answer by josgarithmetic(39618)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Both equations have the expression, . That might be interesting to try to use, but a more direct path to a solution could be this:

Convert each equation to standard form. Identify the center of each circle. The tangency point is located somewhere on the line which connects the centers of the two circles.

I have not worked through all this yet, but maybe it would be enough for you to find a solution.
