Question 778559: 7.Show that the circles
x²+y²-2x-4y+1=0
x²+y²-2x+6y+1=0
are tangent externally, find the circumference and area:
I already converted the equations to standard form and have the circumference and area of both circles. I just want to check if they are correct and also on how to show that they are externally tangent. That's all.
[(x-1)^2 + (y-2)^2 = 2^2] [Area=12.56] [Circumference=12.56]
[(x-1)^2 + (y-3)^2 = 3^2] [Area=28.26] [Circumference=18.84]

Clue: If the circles are touching each other externally then the distance between their centres will be equal to the sum of the radii of the two circles.
