Question 736944: Hi, I am 56 yr old...it has been a long time that I was in school...don't have the 1st clue as to know how to get this...I am building a chicken coop...in the list of parts needed it mentions that I need this: "60" pipe-radiused semi circle"...so the top of the coop is arched...I just don't know how long of a pipe (pvc) I need to cut to get the proper piece called for. Please don't give me the "equation" or the "how to" I would not understand what you are telling me..."4r x 5h = rh"...does not help me at all!

If I understand your question correctly then what you want is a semi-cicle that has a radius of 60 inches.
you need to cut a length of pipe that is 188 and a half inches long. this can be made into what you require.

188.5 inches is close enough
the formula for the circumference is 2* pi *radius
2*3.14*60
but we want half of that for the semi circle
3.14*60=188.4
if you use a value of pi to 20 decimals then you get 188.49 which is for all purposes 188.5

2 times 3.14 times 60
take half of the semi circle
3.14 times 60==188.4
pi to 20 decimals then you get 188.49
