Question 617034: A circular flower garden has a radiusof 16 feet. You want to lay a circular sidewalk 2 feet wide around the entire garden. If the walk will be 3 inches thick, how many cubic yards of concrete will you need?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
find the area of the circle with a radius of 16 ft
find the area of the circle with a radius of 18 ft
subtract
multiply by 1/4 - [ 3 inches is 1/4 ft]
and that is cubic ft
1 cubic yd is 27 cubic ft 3*3*3
divide by 27 to get cubic yds.
