If the dimensions of a solid or 2-dimensional figure change by a factor of x, the corresponding surfaces change by a factor of x%5E2 and the corresponding volumes (if applicable) change by a factor of x%5E3.
So if the radius changes by a factor of 2, the area will change by a factor od 2%5E2=4.
