Not enough info. We aren't told the size of the circle. We are only told that it is inside the square. It could be the same diameter as the side of the square or it could be a fraction of it.
I will assume it is the largest possible.
The area of the square will be 36 sq inches
Diameter of the circle will be 6 radius will be 3
The circle will have an area of 3.14*3*3
subtract them to get the area requested
36-3.14*3*3=area requested
