Find the midpoint of MT and call it X. Construct radius EY passing through X. You now have two congruent right triangles formed by segment EX, MX or XT, and EM or ET (hypotenuse).

The hypotenuse of either triangle is and one of the legs is half the measure of MT, or 16. Hence the measure of EX which is defined as the distance from MT to the center of the circle is:
